What is Computer Numerical Control (CNC)?
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) is a manufacturing method that automates the control, movement, and precision of machine tools through the use of preprogrammed computer software that is embedded within the tool.

CNC systems are commonly used in manufacturing to machine metal and plastic parts. Milling machines, lathes, routers, drills, grinders, water guns, and lasers are common cutting tools whose operations can also be automated with CNC systems. It can also be used to control non-mechanical tools such as welding, electronic assembly and wire winding machines.

How Computer Numerical Control Works
With a CNC system, each object to be manufactured has a customized computer program, usually written in an international standard language called G-code, stored in and executed by the machine control unit (MCU), which is attached to The machine's microcomputer. G-code controls the movement and functionality of the machine, while M-code controls the external movement of the operation.
